Senior Front End Developer

reacHIRE is looking for a Senior Front End Web Developer to join our growing dev team.  This role will support the development of Aurora, a Software-as-a-Service platform. The front end of Aurora is built with ReactJS, connecting to a Rails based back-end with REST API’s.

• Interpreting Product specifications, really understanding what is being asked for, being an active participant in spec reviews, digging deep.
• Estimate the size of any given assignment; commit, and deliver on time, with quality. If management specified deadlines are not realistic, speak up at the beginning, not at the end. The content is negotiable, quality and predictability are not
• Deliver pixel perfect UI’s per specification; that are responsive, and a joy to use. That gracefully handle the unexpected cases, server side errors, invalid data, etc. without the dreaded forever-spinner, or blank screen
• Write high quality code that someone else will enjoy inheriting and maintaining when you become CTO someday. Your code will mostly be client-side Javascript, React JSX, CSS, but there may be a bit of server-side coding as well. You may see some RoR ERB
• Adhere to coding standards and best practices 
• Develop and maintain unit tests for your code, and backfill where necessary
• Stay abreast of emerging technologies and techniques that can make us move faster
• Collaborate with the Mobile app developer(s); much of our code is a cross-platform React based core, that powers both Web and Mobile versions of the app. This cross-platform core is a shared responsibility.
• Collaborate with the back-end developer(s). The API is negotiable!
• The application is not just the screens. There is a build process, toolchain, there are third party services to interface with. You will be responsible for delivering a functional app, not just screens.

• 8+ years of professional or academic software development experience
• 3+ years of front-end development experience
• Ideally ReactJS experience, but at least some comparable client side framework such as Angular or Vue
• Hands-on experience with front-end toolchain (babel, webpack, node, etc.)

This is a remote work position (though if you happen to be local, our CEO will surely love to see you at our beautiful office in Concord MA now and then). 

Remote work requires that:

• You have a high speed, extremely reliable internet connection (100 Mbps or better)
• Have a good microphone or headset
• Are comfortable with both instant messaging and voice calls
• Don’t mind having the camera on for some meetings
• Be as reachable as if you were in the office
• Regardless of your time zone, have at least a five hour overlap in working hours with employees in US/Eastern time zone
